It is estimated that each year there are over 20,000 reportable injuries involving transport on work sites. Of these, 30% involve Fork Lift Trucks. These injuries, some fatal, create suffering for those involved and for their dependants. They can also involve heavy costs for the employer. Even an accident not involving injury may result in costly damage to trucks, buildings, fittings and goods being handled.

Fork Lift Truck accidents are often associated with lack of suitable operator training. Such training is an essential first step in reducing damage and injury to key personnel.

Welwyn L.G.V. Driver Training offer this important training, on either our site at Plaxton Bridge or at the customers own site. All our instructors are fully trained and qualified.

The Fork Lift Operation Course is designed for novice operators who have had no formal training. The Course is programmed to cover all aspects of mechanical lifting machines, from the introduction to a machine, through stages covering hydraulics, load centres, de-rating and the practical handling capabilities of trainees. Working in a confined area is also assessed and remedial training is given to ensure the trainee is a capable and confident operator.

The Fork Lift Safety Course is designed for experienced Fork Lift operators who have successfully operated a truck for at least a year. The course is mainly theoretical with practical skill assessments. If the student attains the necessary standards of competence, as required by the Joint Committee of Industry Training Boards, a certificate will be issued.

All courses commence at 8.00 a.m. and finish at 4.00 p.m.
